JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a motivated Shop Assistant eager to jumpstart their career in the booming HVAC industry. This entry-level position is perfect for those with no prior experience, but a right attitude and a coachable disposition are crucial. You will have the unique opportunity to be mentored by our experienced Shop Manager and learn the intricacies of operating equipment used to manufacture ductwork and fittings. Ideal for individuals passionate about building skills and advancing their career, this role provides hands-on experience and significant opportunities for growth and advancement within the company. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the fabrication of structural or sheet metal products, performing any combination of the following tasks: Lifts, positions, and removes workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.
- Must be able to follow instructions as given and prioritize duties according to projects on demand.
- Verify counts and prices on shipments.
- Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, and work in process by hand or truck.
- Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping, using the scraping tool, abrasive, or placing in a solvent bath.
- Maintain clean work area including but not limited to breaking down cardboard for recycling as well as sorting and recycling various scrap metals.
- Must perform all duties in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines & policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Previous sheet metal experience is a plus but we are very willing to train the right person.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and a clean driver’s record.
- The ability to read, write, and follow precise instructions is a must.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General laborer - must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform repetitive motions.
- Must be familiar with various power tools.
- Proper use of Tape measure is essential.
- Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, and working at elevated levels.
- Basic math skills are a must.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
- Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
- Must be reliable, clean-cut, prompt, and a self-starter. Regular attendance is a must.
BENEFITS & CULTURE:
- Wages range between $18.00 and $25.00 per hour DOE plus incentives and a bonus structure.
- Medical Insurance. We pay 50% of your health insurance premiums after 90 days.
- Ability to advance to any position within the Company provided the employee shows continued interest in learning and has completed the required training for advancement.
- 6 paid Holidays after one year of employment.
- 40 hours of vacation time after one year of employment, increasing yearly.
